Pat Montoya Jr.
April 1, 1960 ~ September 4, 2023 (age 63) 63 Years Old
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Pat Montoya Jr. on Monday, September 4, 2023 at the age of 63. Pat was an exceptionally compassionate and hardworking man with a heart of gold. He lived a life full of love as a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Pat was born April 15, 1960 in Oxnard, CA the son of Pat Montoya Sr. and Alice Trejo Montoya. He grew up in Simi Valley and graduated from Royal High School in 1978. Pat married Debbie Ruggles on October 5, 1991. He worked at Rocketdyne/Boeing for thirty years and the last 14.5 years as a contracted plumber for the Rawlings Mechanical Company while remaining at the same Boeing work site. He enjoyed coaching baseball and football with his sons and was lovingly called Coach Pat by so many in the community. In recent years he passionately represented Not One More as their President and made himself available to anyone struggling with substance use disorder, including their family members.
Pat is survived by his wife, Debbie of 32 years, sons Kyle and Jake Montoya, daughter Ariana Dronen of Ridgefield, WA, grandchildren Diallo and Ronen Overton and Atreyu Dronen. Father-in-law Ralph Ruggles, sisters Roseann Montoya, Gail Gisel (husband Bob), Yvonne Moran (husband Shawn), brother Ted Montoya, brothers-in-law Roger Ruggles (wife Tricia) and Jason Ruggles (wife Suzi). He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Ruggles.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10:00 am at Calvary Community Church, 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village. Memorial donations may be made to Not One More at notonemore.net.
