Sally Berna “Little Deer” Morales, our Nana,  transitioned on September 22, 2021.  She was 90 years old. Nana was born on August 20, 1931 in Ponderosa, New Mexico to Jose Angel Flores and Patrisiona Valverde Flores.  She grew up in Albuquerque, NM.  Nana settled in Oxnard, Ca with her beloved husband Joe Angel Morales where they raised 5 children, 16  grandchildren,  31 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was a 60+ year resident of Ventura County, Ca.
Our Nana believed in family so strongly because she lost hers at a very young age. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for every single one of her children. She worked hard her entire life to provide for everyone. Nana raised us all to be more like siblings rather than cousins which made her very proud.
Nana welcomed family, friends, and neighbors with open arms. She loved to cook, bake, and offer comfort to anyone who needed it.  Nana enjoyed telling stories of her childhood and experiences and we enjoyed hearing them. Nana was especially proud of her Hopi Native American culture and heritage.
Our Nana is the strongest person most will ever know.  The love and care she gave will be etched in our souls forever.
Nana is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Pena and Catherine Vasquez of Houston, Tx… her son Michael Julian Morales and grandson Benjamin Jimenez of Oxnard, Ca.. her granddaughter Alicia Ramos of Albuquerque, NM, both of whom she raised as her own. She is also survived by all of her many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; most of whom she also raised as her own.
Nana joined her husband Joe, daughter Toni Patricia, son Joseph Jr, grandson Greg, and numerous loved ones where she will continue her journey until we are all together again.
